A little more about unlocking......

Recently, I have had quite a few people ask more in-depth questions about unlocks. I will try to address these in this post. First, let's start with some definitions;

1. APN (Access Point Name)-These are settings used by carriers to enable MMS (picture messaging), and data (internet). These can not be edited on an iPhone without a jailbreak. You CAN set profiles, for instance, using unlockit, but those profiles only enable data, not MMS.

2. Baseband (Modem Firmware), located under Settings>General>About>Modem Firmware-This is the firmware on your baseband chip. It enables you to acquire the carriers transmitting frequency..i.e...900 MHz, 1700 MHz, etc. Stock iPhone basebands DO NOT acquire the T-Mobile frequencies. They must be flashed to another firmware version, or be exploited if they are a version that can be done so. On an iPhone 3G(s), manufacture date 134 and below, you can flash this baseband to the iPad baseband (6.15.00), which can be exploited to detect the T-Mobile baseband. The problem is, that this baseband does not support GPS. That is why after upgrading a baseband to 6.15.00, I downgrade it to 5.13.04, which can also be exploited, and DOES support GPS. Only the iPhone 3G(s), mfg date 134 or below, iPhone 3G, or iPhone 2G can be exploited basebandwise to enable T-Mobile. The iPhone 4 1.59.00 baseband can also be exploited, but those are more rare than a four dollar bill, and, as of now, there is no way to flash the iPhone 4 baseband down to the 1.59.00 baseband.

The unlocks that I do are hacks, NOT factory unlocks, and it is 100The people that do these factory unlocks are doing it ILLEGALLY, using their AT&T employee status to access Apple's servers to submit your IMEI.

There is also the issue of the Gevey Sim unlock. What this is is a chip that is placed underneath your SIM card (SIM stands for Service Identification Module). This manipulates your baseband chip by hardware, not software, and is VERY dangerous to your baseband chip, not to mention, that they are VERY hard to set up and use. They WILL destroy your baseband chip. It may be a week, it may be a year, but it WILL destroy your iPhone's capability to detect cellular service eventually.

All this being said, the safest, most dependable unlock is through Apple, or through a cell provider, (AT&T, Verizon, etc.). NOT through an employee doing it on the side illegally, either!!! The actual store. If this guy is suspected of doing this, or Apple detects the inconsistency or excessive number of unlocks, they will pull his ID #, and you will NOT get your unlock, as a matter of fact, I just an hour ago spoke to a person who spent $60 for this exact thing, and didn't get his unlock. I will show you that your unlock works before we part company, and once again, my hack is LEGAL. As always, thanks for reading...

Free music. Always a hot topic. It is true that you don't have to jailbreak to get free music, but jailbreaking IS the only way to download free music straight to your iPhone. So, if you are looking to ONLY get free music out of a jailbreak, you may want to consider the other option, ESPECIALLY if you are on iOS6. Just remember...you MUST have a computer with iTunes installed to do this. You will have to sync your iPhone to get this music. "Sync" meaning that you plug it into iTunes, and transfer that music to your phone. All that being said, if you want an easy way to get your music for free, without any tutoring on how to use programs, the jailbreak is your best bet. Hope that answered any question about the free music issue, and, as always, if you have any further questions, please email me!!! Thanks for reading!!!

This posting is to clear up all the confusion about downgrading your Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.

1. Apple signs all of it's firmware versions while they are current for each individual device. These signatures are called SHSH (Secure HaSH) blobs. Without these blobs, downgrading is IMPOSSIBLE. The only way to save these blobs is by jail breaking, or using a program to save your blobs locally (on your computer), with a program such as Tiny Umbrella, or iFaith.

2. ALL iPhone 3G(s)'s have their SHSH blobs saved for iOS 4.1, making it possible to downgrade ANY iPhone 3G(s) to iOS 4.1. The implications of this are that if you are on a version of iOS that does not have an untethered jailbreak, and you are wanting to be jailbroken, or needing to be for a carrier unlock, you can be downgraded to iOS 4.1 to achieve an UNTETHERED jailbreak. This applies ONLY for the iPhone 3G(s).

3. If you have an iPhone that has previously been jailbroken on a previous version of iOS, say for instance that you accidentally upgraded to iOS 6 from iOS 5.1.1, and you were jailbroken on iOS 5.1.1 BEFORE iOS 6 came out, Cydia will have saved your SHSH blobs for you on iOS 5.1.1, making it possible to downgrade back down to iOS 5.1.1.

4. If you have downloaded Tiny Umbrella, and backed up your SHSH blobs while on a version of iOS locally (on your computer), you can also use those to downgrade.

5. This DOES NOT apply to the iPhone 4(s). It CAN NOT be downgraded from iOS 6 yet. It can only be downgraded from a version of iOS 5, to an earlier version of iOS 5. It can NOT be downgraded to an earlier version of iOS than iOS 5.

6. The biggest misconception with downgrading is that it is widely believed that you can restore your iPhone from a backup image made in iTunes from a later version of iOS. That is to say, if you try to restore an image from iOS 6 to iOS 4.1, it won't restore your backup image, because the older version of iOS isn't compatible with the newer version's filesystem. That being said, it is PARAMOUNT that you SYNC your iPhone to iTunes before coming to me, or attempting a downgrade yourself. You will need to re-sync your iPhone after the downgrade, after setting up as a new iPhone, NOT restore from a backup. You will get your contacts and music back, and once you sign into the App Store on your iPhone, you can get all of your apps back that you have paid for, because once you purchase an app on an iOS device under a given Apple ID, you own it, and can re-download it on that same device again for free.

I hope that this has cleared up any confusion or questions about downgrading, and if not, email me with your question, and I will respond as soon as possible. As always, thank you for visiting my blog...

This post is to clear up any uncertainties you may have about a device and it's potential for being unlocked. I'll go over each device in detail...

*iPhone 5...Well, there is no jailbreak, not yet anyways, so I really can't do much for you on this one!! SORRY!!!

*iPhone 4(s) ***AT&T***...If you are on iOS 6, then there is no jailbreak for you yet..sorry.
However, if you are on iOS 5.1.1, or 5.0, you are in luck. I can unlock (APN unlock, that is), for AT&T GoPhone, h2o, Red Pocket, Air Voice, Straight Talk, Net 10, and Jolt. No T-Mobile possibilities. That means Simple Mobile and Family Mobile are out of the equation, too, since they are T-Mobile shared partners.

*iPhone 4(s)***Verizon***...I can flash you to CricKet or Page Plus, Bad ESN or not, ONLY on iOS 5.1.1 or 5.0

*iPhone 4(s)***Sprint*** ....I can flash you to CricKet ONLY, and ONLY on iOS 5.1.1, or 5.0

*iPhone 4 ***AT&T*** ....Same story as the AT&T iPhone 4(s), except you CAN be jailbroken on iOS 6, but it is a TETHERED jailbreak

*iPhone 4***Verizon***....Same as iPhone 4(s)

*iPhone 4***Sprint*** ...Same as iPhone 4(s)

*iPhone 3G(s)....This is where it gets VERY confusing. Before anything, we need to identify which version of the 3G(s) you have. There are three different ones, all with different capabilities. You are going to be paying attention to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th digits of your SERIAL NUMBER. How you find that is Settings>General>About>Serial Number.
The 3rd digit is the year of manufacture, and the 4th and 5th are the week of manufacture.

Type #1-The most desired. 945 or earlier. You have a GEM!!!! You can be unlocked for ANY GSM carrier!!! So that is T-Mobile, Simple Mobile, Family Mobile, Straight Talk, Net 10, AT&T GoPhone, Red Pocket, h2o, Jolt, and Air Voice. Also, it will work for overseas GSM carriers!! AND>>>>you wil be UNTETHERED when jailbroken, no matter which version of iOS...even 6!!!

Type #2-134 or earlier. You can be unlocked for ANY GSM carrier (overseas included), BUT you will be TETHERED when jailbroken on iOS 6.

Type #3-135 or newer. You are limited to the same options as the AT&T iPhone 4.

The good news with the tethered jailbreaks on iOS 6, with a 3G(s), no matter which type, is that you can be downgraded to iOS 4.1, and have an UNTETHERED jailbreak!!!

*iPhone 3G...It is only capable of going as high as iOS 4.2.1, so no matter what, it is an UNTETHERED jailbreak. You can also be unlocked for any GSM carrier (overseas included).

*and finally...the old iPhone 2G. It is only capable of firmwares up to iOS 3.1.3, so it is also an UNTETHERED jailbreak, and can be unlocked for any GSM carrier (overseas included).

....I hope that this has answered any and all questions that you may have about unlock possibilities for your iPhone, if not, make sure to email me with your question!!!

                                                                                                       ~The iDevice Pro~
To any of my followers who are on iOS 6, and want a hard copy of how to install cracked apps, or how to boot tethered, here's some help for ya!!!

These are the instructions on how to boot a jailbroken device that has a tethered jailbreak, and how to install cracked IPA's (apps that are originally paid apps, but are now free to you thanks to a jailbreak). First, we will start with how to boot your device if it has powered off for any reason.

Save these files to your desktop.

1. You will need a couple of files. The first is the jailbreak program itself. It is called Redsn0w 0.9.15b2. Make sure that you download the correct one for your operating system, i.e. Windows or Mac. You can get the file at http://blog.iphone-dev.org Windows users, make sure that you right click the .exe and go to compatibility, and run it as an administrator. The next file is your IPSW, or iPhone Software. (Or iPad, or iPod…whichever is applicable.) The link is this http://www.ijailbreak.com/ijailbreak-downloads-section/
Scroll to the bottom of the page, and you will see many different IPSW's. You will need 6.0. iPhone 4 users, make sure that if you are getting the correct IPSW. If you are an AT&T user, you need the GSM version (iPhone 3,1). Verizon and Sprint users will need the CDMA version (iPhone 3,3). If you get the iPhone 3,2, it will not work for either, so make sure that you get the correct IPSW for your device.

2. Now that we have the required files, first, you will need to plug in your device. Secondly, you will need to power it off. If it is in a boot loop, and just continually showing the Apple boot logo, you will need to force power it off. You can do this by holding the home and power button together until it powers off. Now you will need to enter DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode. You will do this by manipulating the power and home buttons in a precise sequence. Here is the sequence;
a-hold the power button only for three seconds
b-while continuing to hold the power button, begin holding the home button, effectively holding both of them together for ten seconds.
c-now you will release the power button, while continuing to hold the home button for fifteen seconds.

This process is fairly simple, but may take a couple of attempts to perfect. If for some reason you get it wrong, and find that you are having problems turning your device back on, hold the power and home button together until the device powers back on, and re-start the process. Sometimes entering DFU works better if you can do a swipe-to-power-off, but if your device does a boot loop, you really don't have the luxury of that option.

3. You will now need to open Redsn0w. You will click the "Extras"-Everything else tab located at the bottom of the program window.
Now you will click the "Select IPSW" tab. That will take you to your file system browser, (Windows users it will open "Windows Explorer", Mac users it will open "Finder"), where you will select the file from your desktop by double clicking it. It will then say "IPSW Successfully Recognized"
Now you will click the "Just Boot" tab.
Your device will be injected with the exploit, and will begin to boot with a PWNApple..(pineapple with a chunk out of it), if you have done this correctly….
And TADAAA!!!! You have now rebooted your jailbroken iDevice tethered!!!

Next is quite a bit easier. This is how you will get your free apps. You will need iFunbox. Once again, make sure you get the correct one for your specific operating system, (Mac or Windows).
The link is as follows for Windows users http://modmyi.com/forums/windows-specific-modding-discussion/423281-ifunbox-windows.html
For Mac users http://i-funbox.com/ifunboxmac/

Install the program.

Now you will need to get your apps, they can be downloaded at http://iphonecake.com/appcake/en/

Once you have your IPA (iPhone Application) downloaded, install it with iFunbox. All you have to do is open iFunbox with your device plugged in to your computer, select the tab at the top toolbar in iFunbox that says "Install APP, or on older versions, says Install IPA", select the IPA from your file system that you are automatically prompted to 'Windows Explorer for Windows users, Finder for Mac users), and just wait for it to say "success". It is really that easy!!!

****I have learned from years of doing this, since you are prompted to select files from tabs quite often from these programs, it is best to create dedicated folders for these files, so that they are correctly labeled, and easy to find. In Windows, I put them under documents, and on my Mac, I created a new favorites folder named IPSW's and one called IPA's. That is just a suggestion, not necessary…just do what is easiest for you, and have fun with your newly jailbroken iDevice!!!****
